Around Hinterzarten, breathtaking views are waiting for you in a diversified hiking area. From the Bergfried residences, you may hike to the highest mountains of the Black Forest. But you do not need to climb a mountain in order to enjoy the numerous wonderful scenic spots in our idyllic high valley. For example, you may walk to the stunning Titisee which is located only at about 4 kilometers from Hinterzarten. For those of you who like to complete the mountain hike of 27 kilometers, we have a special tip: From our residences, you should hike to Windeckkopf and Fürsatzmoos before you arrive at the Feldberg. From the Black Forest’s highest summit you should hike then to the Rinken before coming back to Hinterzarten. Those of you who want to immerse themselves into the pristine nature of the Black Forest, and learn how our ancestors used hydropower should take the tour of 7 kilometers on the “Heimatpfad” (home trail) through the legendary “Ravennaschlucht” (Ravenna gorge). If you are a guest at our Ferienresidenz Bergfried, you receive the KONUS guest card of the Schwarzwald Tourismus GmbH. With this card, you can travel through the whole Black Forest by bus and by train for free. Therefore, the KONUS guest card allows you to reach the distant starting point of your hike without difficulty, and to come back from the destination of your hike by bus or by train comfortably and for free.

Do you want to go on a long-distance hike of several stages without your car? From the Hinterzarten train station, you can get to Breitnau, St. Märgen and St. Peter by taking the RVF bus, which also brings you back to Hinterzarten after your hike. Those who present their KONUS guest card when taking bus or train, are allowed to use it for free together with their fellow travellers (IRE 2^nd class included as well).

Do you want to take a stroll through town without having to look for a parking space? Every 30 minutes, you can take the “Höllentalbahn” (Hell Valley Railway) to get from Hinterzarten to Freiburg by train. Every 60 minutes, you can get to the lake Schluchsee or to Villingen or Donaueschingen via Neustadt – and from there you can travel even further.

With the numerous leisure buses und hiking buses, you can easily get to the most beautiful tourist attractions from Hinterzarten. Therefore, almost no limits are set to your curiosity.
